This 1978 Ford Bronco Custom is a well-documented and thoughtfully reconditioned example of Ford’s second-generation 4×4. Sold new on June 29, 1978, to Terry Netherton of Duncan, South Carolina through D&D Motors Inc. in Greer, the Bronco comes with its original bill of sale, warranty ID card, and ownership documents. After several years with owners in the Chesnee, SC area, it was acquired in 2017 and brought to Aiken, SC.

The included Marti Report confirms this truck’s VIN. It identifies this vehicle as a factory-built Bronco 4×4 Wagon Ranger XLT, manufactured on May 5, 1978 (five days ahead of schedule) at the Ford Michigan Truck Assembly facility. It left the factory equipped with a 351-2V engine, automatic transmission, hi/low transfer case, and a 3.50 limited-slip rear axle. Factory paint was Deluxe TuTone Wimbledon White and Cinnamon Glow, paired with a removable white fiberglass roof. The interior was originally Saddle Vinyl Buckets with a rear seat, later replaced with a single front bench. Other factory options included skid plates, ammeter, oil pressure gauge, power steering, hood lock, bright low mount western mirrors, cruise control, air conditioning, AM/FM radio (no radio currently installed), tinted glass, white steel wheels, and increased fuel tank capacity.

Once the Bronco arrived in Aiken around 2017, it underwent a complete tear-down repaint at The Body Shop in Graniteville, SC. The high-quality refinish in white was complemented with new exterior details including grille, lenses, seals, and mirrors—items often overlooked during a standard repaint. The interior was refinished in light tan and simplified with only a front bench seat for a clean, purposeful presentation. The previous owner preferred this setup to provide space for her pack of dogs. Since the work was completed, the Bronco has been driven less than 100 miles.

Mechanically, the truck was thoroughly gone through, with services performed by several local shops. A new Holley electric choke carburetor was installed, along with repairs and clean-up of the engine bay wiring. Additional work at Car Cave included the full suspension rebuild, new alternator, horns, battery cut-off switch, radiator cap, and lighting updates.

Underneath, the Bronco benefits from a professionally installed Skyjacker 6-inch Suspension Lift System (176BKS-B with Black MAX shocks), providing a commanding stance and modern off-road capability. The lift kit was properly supported with a drop pitman arm, dual steering stabilizer, extended brake lines, and a heavy-duty CLYDESDALE tie rod and drag link assembly to handle the larger tires. It rides on aggressive 35×12.50R15 Cooper Discoverer STT tires mounted to 15-inch black beadlock steel wheels, giving the truck both a rugged appearance and off-road readiness.

Additional upgrades include a steel off-road front winch bumper with integrated grille guard, a full steel rear bumper, and Warn manual locking front hubs. A new exhaust system was also installed, featuring Flowmaster Delta 50 Series mufflers and fresh piping.

The result is a South Carolina Bronco that has been recently reconditioned with a documented history of tasteful upgrades, backed by its original paperwork and a full record of mechanical, off-road, and cosmetic improvements.
