1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer For Sale.

$119,000 | WAGONMASTER | KERRVILLE, TX

Jeep’s new 2022 Grand Wagoneers are pretty fancy, but fully optioned examples are damn near $120,000. If you’re thinking about buying one, might we suggest this restored 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer for sale by the craftsmen at Wagonmaster for an asking price of $119,000?

For that price you get a truck that looks absolutely perfect and  feels and drives like a 2022, but has the vintage style and cache of the original Grand Wagoneer. It’s cliche, but they just don’t make them like they used to.

The Last of the Real Jeep Grand Wagoneers.

The Jeep Grand Wagoneer was a variant of the Jeep Wagoneer (SJ) produced between the years 1984 and 1991. The Grand Wagoneer, often viewed as the first true luxury SUV, was built in a four door SUV body style and was most notable for its retro wood-grain paneling. This particular Grand Wagoneer was restored by Wagonmaster, a family business dedicated solely to restoring Jeep Wagoneers and Grand Wagoneers. As I’m sure you can imagine, we love a good niche. As their name implies, they know their way around these trucks, and their work is absolutely breathtaking.

There are verrrry few Jeep Grand Wagoneers that are like this one, so finding comparables for the sake of valuation is extremely difficult, but we’ll try. The TL;DR is that while this truck’s asking price is approaching $120k, it’s a fair price.

In 2022, Jeep released its next take on the classic Grand Wagoneer and it has seemingly drawn attention to the original, which may explain why the Classic.com rolling average over the last 12 months has gone up a staggering 19%. Looking at the data over the last 5 years, as we noted you’ll see it’s hard to find one that compares. The closest we found was an example that sold at auction in 2020 for $126,500. That particular example was outfitted with a Hellcat motor, which helps to explain why it fetched a bit more.
