This 1975 Ford F-250 Highboy Explorer 4×4 for sale by Dover Speed Shop in Stow, Massachusetts combines several of the attributes collectors look for in a vintage Ford truck: a desirable factory package, original drivetrain, unusually well-preserved sheet metal and interior, and documented rarity. Finished in its original Copper Metallic color over a tan Explorer cloth-and-vinyl interior, this Highboy is believed to have traveled just 53,753 original miles. Built at Ford's San Jose assembly plant and sold new through Dan Wiebold Ford in Nampa, Idaho, the truck retains its original 360ci V8, factory four-speed manual transmission, and divorced transfer case. Its Marti Report documents it as one of 633 produced with its specific paint and trim codes.

Dover Speed Shop reports that the truck runs and drives well, with functioning gauges, lights, and four-wheel-drive equipment. More importantly for an unrestored 50-year-old pickup, its original floors, cab corners, rockers, and doors are described as solid and rot-free.
  • Explorer Highboy: This isn't simply an F-250 wearing period graphics. It was factory-equipped with Explorer Package A along with the Custom package, giving this already desirable Highboy a less-common factory specification. Interestingly, it was ordered with the Explorer tape stripes deleted.
  • Original Powertrain: The original 360ci V8 remains under the hood, backed by Ford's factory four-speed manual transmission and divorced transfer case. Power steering and power brakes add some welcome usability to the old-school mechanical package.
  • Idaho Survivor: Built in San Jose and delivered new to Dan Wiebold Ford in Nampa, this western truck retains its original sheet metal, trim panels, and bumpers. Dover reports the original floors, cab corners, rockers, and doors are all solid and free of rot.
  • Preserved Interior: Inside is the original tan cloth-and-vinyl Explorer bench seat, which remains in notably good condition with no reported rips or tears. Combined with the factory dash, instrumentation, and trim, the cabin preserves much of the character that makes an original truck compelling.
  • Low Miles & Highly Documented: The F-250 shows 53,753 original miles and is accompanied by a clean title and Marti Report. That report further identifies it as one of 633 trucks produced with its specific paint and trim codes.
Highboys have become increasingly collectible, but originality separates this one from the many examples that have been restored, lifted further, engine-swapped, or otherwise substantially modified over the past five decades.

This truck retains its original 360, four-speed, sheet metal, exterior trim, bumpers, and remarkably well-preserved Explorer interior. Its Copper Metallic finish and stripe-delete Explorer specification also give it a distinctly understated appearance compared with the more overtly decorated Explorer trucks of the era. The current white wagon wheels and 33-inch BFGoodrich tires add the right amount of period 4×4 attitude without fundamentally changing the truck. Underneath, it remains the simple formula that made these trucks enduringly popular: a big-block-era Ford V8, manual gearbox, divorced transfer case, solid axles, and plenty of ground clearance.

For someone looking for an honest Highboy rather than a freshly constructed interpretation of one, there's a lot here to like.
