This 1982 GMC C1500 Sierra is a square-body half-ton finished in two-tone blue and silver and built around a BluePrint crate 383 stroker, with the supporting drivetrain, cooling, and electrical work carried out to match. It is configured as a regular cab long bed, the straightforward work-truck proportion that anchors the square-body's lasting appeal. The focus of this build is a clean crate-engine swap done with the right supporting hardware rather than a parts-bin assembly.

Power comes from a BluePrint 383 stroker, a stroked small-block combination chosen for the broad low-end torque these engines are known for, topped with BluePrint cylinder heads and a Holley carburetor running an electric choke conversion. Spent gases exit through Hedman long-tube headers into a true dual exhaust, with heat-shroud sleeving to manage underhood temperatures. Backing the engine is a TH350 automatic, the classic GM three-speed that pairs naturally with a small-block of this character, set up here with a new flexplate, detent cable, and torque converter hardware. Cooling was addressed as part of the swap with a Griffin performance aluminum radiator, electric fans and shroud, a new coolant overflow reservoir, and fresh upper and lower hoses.

The accessory drive was reworked to suit the new engine, with a Powermaster 175-amp alternator, a new power steering pump and pulley kit, and new engine brackets and belts. Engine electrical was sorted with Painless wiring components, a VDO oil pressure gauge, and a Painless 185-degree temperature sender, with the harness dressed in Techflex sleeving for a clean install. Underneath, the rear drum brakes were serviced with new shoes, wheel cylinders, adjusters, and hardware, and the front wheel bearings were replaced. Inside, the truck keeps the simple, durable square-body layout with a blue bench seat, updated with a Sony Bluetooth radio.

The result is a usable square-body GMC with a strong torque-focused engine combination and the cooling, charging, and brake work to back it up, suited to a buyer who wants a finished driver rather than a project.
