1987 Chevrolet V10 1/2 Ton

SOLD  $42,500 | DOWN SOUTH INDUSTRIES | CHAPMANSBORO, TN

We will never, ever, ever get tired of retro stripes on classic trucks. This 1987 Chevy V10 Custom Deluxe 1/2 ton pickup truck sports its original tan paint in great shape enhanced recently with a Desert Fox style retro sticker. It’s a very 70s looking late 80s truck, and it’s breathtaking.

Aside from looking damn good, this truck offered by Down South Industries in Chapmansboro, Tennessee has 92,000 original miles, a rust-free body, a 350 cubic inch V8 motor, and some new OEM and aftermarket parts to sweeten the deal. You can own it all for $42,500.

ABOUT THE CHEVY V10 1/2 TON

This 1987 Chevy V10 is part of the 3rd generation of GM’s C/K line, a range of trucks built from 1973 to 1991. Despite actually being more square than the Squarebody Chevys that came before them, GM dubbed this line the Rounded Line, a likely nod to the fact that it was the first GM truck that used wind tunnels in its design. Even still, it’s hard to find much round on this rig other than the wheels and tires.

So, wait, if this Chevy is part of the C/K line, how did it end up called the V10?

Well, I’m glad you asked! In early 1987, GM began to phase in the 4th gen C/K as a 1988 model–but still made the old gen during the multi-year transition. In order to avoid model overlap, the Rounded Line generation was renamed from C/K to the Chevrolet/GMC R/V (R for 2WD, V for 4WD) series to avoid model overlap. GM only kept the R/V naming for five years, so any truck made between 1987 and 1991 will use these names.

This V10, like the Chevy K10 that we featured a few weeks ago, comes in Custom Deluxe trim, which is essentially the base model with a fancy name and some really good looking badging on the fenders. We happen to love the simplicity.
