With a bulletproof V8 under the bonnet, this Cruiser is the full package, and is turn-key ready to tackle all-weather driving or around-town cruising.

Exterior Overview
Across the globe, the Land Cruiser has a reputation for being absolutely unkillable. This 1999 UZJ100 is an example of some of Toyota’s best work, and this stout 4×4 is a killer prospect in the market, touting an incredible 52k miles on the clock. This figure is verified, documented, and we’ve performed a comprehensive recent service to back it up, too. It’s a looker as well, finished in a fresh coat of Toyota’s Cavalry Blue (8W2). The modern aesthetic complements the timeless body lines nicely, and this super SUV is set off by OEM rainguards and new 17″ Icon wheels. With a bulletproof V8 under the bonnet, this Cruiser is the full package, and is turn-key ready to tackle all-weather driving or around-town cruising. However you use it or abuse it, this Cruiser can take it like a pro, which is why it’s a real deal Japanese Classic!

Interior Overview
Modern SUV’s are messes of technology, and as much as we love the new Land Cruiser, we can’t help but think the brand hit its peak with the 100 series’ cabin design. This cockpit is spacious, luxurious, and features only the necessities. The seats are upholstered in a plush grey cloth and are protected with seat covers, with matching material in the carpet and door cards. These complement the soft-touch dashboard nicely, which sweeps the width of the cabin and features dual SRS airbags to keep your passengers safe up front. Cruise control is standard and works like a charm. The driver gains a tilt-adjustable steering column and power-adjustable lumbar support to find the ideal driving position, and a comfortable steering wheel to grip as you pilot down the highway. Upgraded Panasonic audio sounds swell, and Bluetooth integration keeps the pilot’s eyes on the road. The adjacent automatic control is intuitive to operate. Cold A/C and hot heat can be funneled in the cabin on command, and dual zones allow for your rearward passengers to stay cool, too. Power windows, locks, and power mirrors work like a charm, and there’s even a massive power moonroof up front for those who prefer natural ventilation. The interior upholstery is all in good shape, and this rig was clearly cared for in Japan. The dash shows no signs of cracking or warping, and is soft to the touch. On any 25-year-old cabin, perfection isn’t possible, and we’d like to mention the antenna no longer retracts, nor do the power folding mirrors. On the positive side, it has the original owner’s manuals and OEM carpet floor mats. The condition far surpasses our USDM units, and we think the next owner is bound to agree!

Mechanical Overview
Ask any seasoned Toyota technician about the 2UZ-FE, and the words “bulletproof” and “million-mile engine” may come up once or twice. This is no joke, as the 4.7L under the bonnet is one of our favorites to work on, and runs like a top. We’ve given this V8 some TLC to get it ready for daily duty here stateside, starting with a new 12v battery that was tossed in to aid ignition, and a fresh oil and filter service. A new engine air filter and fuel economy get the most bang for your buck out of the V8, and with the work performed, she runs like a top. Power is thrown to all four wheels via a smooth shifting automatic gearbox, on which we installed a new transmission pan gasket. The 4WD features a selectable low range, and an optional center locker for when the going gets tough. We took care of some necessary drivetrain maintenance to benefit the next owner, and pass our Virginia state safety inspection. New upper and lower control arms were installed in the rear, as were new front AHC links. The factory adjustable height control suspension works properly, and features selectable stiffness settings to keep things comfortable on rougher terrain. The power steering is easy to navigate, and the ABS brakes chomp down with ferocity. The new Icon alloys look the part, and with brand new 33″ Falken all terrains installed, as well as a fresh alignment, you’ll be on track to cover tens of thousands of miles, on or off-road!
