Exterior Overview
This 2000 Pajero is a wicked rig. It looks modern with its curvaceous styling, and is capable, safe, and spacious too. This diesel example is also a strong performer, with its prodigious low-end grunt and fuel sipping turbodiesel engine. Fresh off a recent service, this mighty Mitsubishi is offered with only 75k verified and documented miles on the clock. Finished in a classic Satellite Silver over Athens Silver (A69/A21), this 4×4 is set off by OEM optional fog light covers, hardshell spare tire cover with an integrated shovel, a rear roof ladder, OEM rainguards, refinished OEM wheels wrapped in fresh all-terrains, and a useful roof basket. Aside from some light dings, chips, and scrapes, the paint is in fine shape, and this Japanese Classic is turnkey and ready to rock. Interior Overview
The cabin is spacious and in good shape overall. Dual SRS airbags are standard, as is ABS, for those who are safety-conscious. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading, and features dual glove boxes for additional storage needs. The center stack is close by and within arm’s reach, and a Pioneer radio upgrade fills the cabin with music. Below, a simple to use automatic climate system pipes in boiling heat, and cool A/C is on hand for the winter ahead. The driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column and electric windows, door locks, and power folding mirrors. These all work in typical Mitsubishi fashion and make daily use more enjoyable. Unique to this bodystyle, a stow and go 3rd row can materialize from the trunk floor to accommodate a couple additional occupants. The headliner and door cards are in good shape, and the carpets have withstood the past 25 years without sustaining major damage. Aside from some soiling in the cargo area and a non-functional Japanese nav screen, it’s really hard to nitpick this ride. It even includes the owner’s manuals and OEM floor mats with the purchase of this fine vehicle.
Mechanical Overview
The 4M41 under the bonnet is a wonderful powerplant. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 3.2L churns to life courtesy of a new 12v battery. A new intake air filter and new fuel filter were installed as part of this truck’s tune up, and we also replaced the valve cover gasket with a new one. The four-cylinder is linked to a smooth-shifting automatic transmission. Equipped with 4WD and a center locking differential, we wanted to note that this vehicle only drives the rear axle. Power gets down to the ground effectively, and we have performed a fluid service for the front differential to keep things that way. It gets up to highway speeds quickly, and when you slam on the brakes, new front rotors and brake pads keep stopping distances short. The long wheelbase distributes road imperfections nicely, and new rear shocks improve the overall ride. We also added a new front lower passenger ball joint for state inspection. The power steering is direct and easy to articulate and grip is handled by four new 32″ Falken tires. Freshly aligned, this Pajero tracks straight as an arrow, and the new rubber will provide grip for tens for thousands of miles to come.
