cleanThe second generation Land Cruiser Prado was a step in the correct direction. Continuing to provide a strong competitor in the 4x4 market. Toyota placed the Land Cruiser Prado under the full-size 80 series but on top of the Hilux Surf. A Midsized SUV with strong powertrain and ever stronger brand loyalty. The Prado fanbase grew with this generation as there was something for everyone. The vehicle was dependable at a reasonable price. It was large enough for a full family but not too big for city parking.
Part of the second generation Prado line-up, the 2001 models they were the first to receive updates. Starting with exterior upgrades the headlights and side markers were altered for visibility and output. New Front/ Rear bumpers were redesigned and the vehicles were available in new colors. The interior received a new digital gauge set. As for the engine and drive train. A new Diesel engine was available and new Traction control system. The 1KD Diesel engine became a very popular upgrade and was soon available in many other vehicles.
This Prado is the culmination of all those updates. This is our first 1KD powered vehicle and we are very excited to show it off. The 1KD-FTV is the upgraded 1KZ-TE design, with many upgrades to an already great motor. Starting with its new common-rail injection system that worked well with the 16 valve performance head. The Variable nozzle Turbocharger and intercooler combo also worked well with a new UMNIBUS fueling system that increased performance wile allowing for greater economy.
Performance aside this Prado is a three row, 7 passenger SUV with cloth interior. The Grey fabric is clean without damage. The headliner is also unmarred and has no moon roof to worry about. The Doors have power locks and windows. The second row seats have access to rear heat controls and cupholders. When no rear passengers are present the 4 rear seats can fold up/out of the way.
The vehicle has just received a new set of Raceline Black wheels and Falken Wildpeak AT4 tires. Be one of the first to drive one of these new 1KD engines on the regular.
