To gain the same experience, aesthetic, and determined driving experience as a classic Toyota, the brand penned the FJ Cruiser.

Exterior Overview
There’s a lot of folks that come into the dealership wanting a classic Land Cruiser. While they’re dang good trucks, some lifestyles simply require a modern left-hand-drive vehicle. To gain the same experience, aesthetic, and determined driving experience as a classic Toyota, the brand penned the FJ Cruiser. Our 2007 FJ is in fine shape, with Cement (1H5) paintwork, an OEM roof rack, aftermarket turn signals, 17″ BERG alloys, and a respectable 147k miles on the clock. Save for a prior rear bumper repair, there’s little to complain about cosmetically apart from some dings, chips, and defects commensurate with age and wear. Best of all, this Cruiser is fresh off a recent service, and is backed by a Virginia state safety inspection. A Japanese Classic doesn’t have to be old, and this FJ is fun to drive, easy to service, and frankly, it’s everything the enthusiast wants!

Interior Overview
Hopping into the interior feels akin to manning an M1 Abrams, as the slender windshield, tough cladding, and simple switchgear all contribute to the experience. The seats are upholstered in a durable mesh material, and despite being nearly 20 years old this example shows no major rips, stains, or tears to note on the upholstery, putting this cabin in above average condition. The same can be said for the hard plastics on the dash, door panels, and center stack, and this FJ caters to active lifestyles with rubberized flooring. The center console is accessible and features easy to use climate control and OEM audio. Cold A/C and hot heat both work like a charm, and the audio quality is decent for its age. Dual SRS airbags are handy, and the driver can get comfortable behind a tilt adjustable steering column. Power windows, locks, and mirrors all work like a charm, assisting daily use. If you choose to maximize the utility in this sport utility, the rear seats can fold flat creating a massive cargo hold. An accessible control panel gives the driver access to active traction control and an optional rear locking differential, and overlanders will enjoy the functionality of the factory field monitor plopped atop the dash. Other than some scratches and stains on the headliner and cargo area, we think this FJ has really held up well over the years.

Mechanical Overview
At some point during the mid 2000’s, Toyota deemed the 4.0 1GR-FE the ultimate midsize truck and SUV engine. The design shows nearly no flaws, and it offers up more than enough propulsion to get you where you need to go. To kick off our laundry list of mechanical reconditioning on this truck, we chucked in a new 12v battery and performed an oil and filter service. A new accessory belt keeps things properly powered under the hood, and this V6 benefits from a brand new set of spark plugs and coil packs across the board. Power is sent straight to an automatic gearbox, which distributes torque to all four wheels via a selective transfer case. The actuation between RWD and 4WD is seamless, and an optional rear locking differential can click on if you become stuck in the sand. To bolster the suspension and supply a bit more ground clearance, we installed a brand new Eibach lift all the way around. While we were in there, we replaced the front lower control arms, and installed a new front left wheel bearing to keep the drivetrain compliant and comfortable. The new shocks ride like a dream on this tall SUV, and the chassis as a whole is easy to maneuver thanks to feather weight power steering. The ABS brakes benefit from new front pads and rotors, and the multipiece alloys received all new 33″ Falken rubber here at the shop. Fresh off a four wheel alignment, this terrific Toyota looks good, drives better, and would be the perfect daily driver.

*California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first. CARB certifications will have to be performed within the state. Depending on the vehicle and any existing modifications will affect the pricing. Typically CARB compliance will range between 5-10K.
