This 2008 Jeep Wrangler X is a two-door JK offered by a private seller in Windsor, Colorado. The current owner purchased the Jeep in July 2017 at 134,395 miles, when it was still in stock configuration, and has owned it for more than nine years. Originally equipped with a 3.8-liter V6, six-speed manual transmission, Command-Trac four-wheel drive, Dana 30 front and Dana 44 rear axles, and a three-piece Freedom Top, the Wrangler has since been modified with a JKS suspension system, 4.56 gearing, Detroit Truetrac differentials, upgraded steering and axle components, steel bumpers, a winch, and Goodyear Duratrac tires.
- JKS Suspension & Chassis: At approximately 150,000 miles, the Wrangler received a 2.5 in. JKS suspension lift with FOX 2.0 shocks, an adjustable track bar, quick-disconnect sway-bar links, JKS front lower control arms, and J-Axis front upper control arms. The build was later supplemented with a JKS adjustable rear upper control arm to correct rear pinion angle. Additional chassis and steering work includes replacement ball joints, steering stabilizer, tie rod/steering linkage, and a Dana 30 axle reinforcement kit.
- 4.56 Gears & Truetracs: The factory axle configuration has been substantially upgraded for trail use. Both axles were regeared to 4.56:1, with Detroit Truetrac limited-slip differentials installed front and rear. The Wrangler rides on Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac RT 255/80R17 tires, including a matching fifth tire. An earlier set of 285/70R17 Duratracs was installed when the suspension and axle work was completed.
- Rebuilt Drivetrain Components: The six-speed manual transmission was rebuilt at approximately 178,000 miles with new internal components and filled with synthetic ATF+4. More recently, the transfer case was rebuilt at approximately 186,000 miles, while the front and rear driveshafts were replaced with U-joint-conversion units. CARFAX also documents substantial drivetrain service during the current ownership period, including clutch and flywheel replacement, transmission service, front differential and output-shaft seals, a rear driveshaft, front wheel hub/bearing work, and control-arm service.
- Bumpers, Winch & Lighting: Aftermarket powder-coated steel front and rear bumpers replace the original units, with the front bumper carrying a 13,000-lb. winch. The factory halogen headlights have also been replaced with KC Gravity LED Pro DOT headlights. The original build sheet confirms the Jeep was factory-equipped with a black three-piece Freedom Top, fog lamps, air conditioning, cruise control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
- Long-Term Colorado Ownership: The current owner has put roughly 64,000 miles on the Wrangler since purchasing it in 2017 and reports oil changes every 5,000 miles using K&N oil filters. CARFAX shows 39 reported service-history records and no indication of an odometer rollback, total loss, structural-damage title brand, or open recall. The history report does note an accident in 2015, followed by a moderate-damage accident in 2018 when the Jeep struck an elk; airbags did not deploy. Minor front-end damage was also reported in June 2026. The seller reports hail damage was repaired at approximately 198,000 miles with a replacement hood and repainting of the side panels. Minor surface rust is currently noted on the front bumper.
This Wrangler combines the straightforward two-door JK platform and six-speed manual transmission with upgrades aimed at improving both trail capability and durability. The 2.5 in. JKS suspension, FOX shocks, 4.56 gearing, front and rear Truetracs, axle reinforcement, upgraded steering components, steel bumpers, and winch address the major areas typically targeted when building an early JK for off-road use.
