Built by Adrenalin Industries, “Klause” is a 2024 Ram 5500 Limited transformed into a purpose-built AWOL expedition vehicle designed for extended travel well beyond established campgrounds. Combining a 6.7L Cummins turbodiesel, Liquid Springs active suspension, 41-inch tires, a 14-foot all-aluminum living module, 1,600 watts of solar and 100 gallons of fresh water, the build brings serious off-grid capability together with a remarkably complete living space.

Klause currently shows just 4,446 miles and serves as an Adrenalin AWOL demo truck. The underlying Ram 5500 rides on a 203-inch wheelbase and retains a 19,500-lb GVWR, while a custom frame extension supports the oversized living quarters. A 74-gallon fuel tank, dual 440-amp alternators, limited-slip rear axle, 20,000-lb front winch and Liquid Springs active smart suspension help prepare the truck for long-distance travel and remote destinations.
  • Ram 5500 Foundation: At the center of the build is Ram’s 6.7L Cummins turbodiesel paired with the heavy-duty 5500 chassis. The Limited-spec cab brings a decidedly upscale starting point, with heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, premium audio, a large infotainment display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 74-gallon fuel tank extends the truck’s usable range, while dual alternators provide 440 amps of combined output to support the substantial house electrical system.
  • Liquid Springs Suspension: Klause uses a Liquid Springs active smart suspension system rather than a conventional fixed-height setup. The system automatically compensates for vehicle load and provides five adjustable ride-height settings along with Sport, Normal and Comfort ride modes. True Earth campsite leveling is integrated into the system, allowing the truck to level itself at camp without relying on a separate traditional leveling arrangement.
  • Built For Remote Travel: The exterior hardware matches the scale of the truck. A Buckstop aluminum front bumper incorporates a ComeUp 20,000-lb winch with synthetic line, while the Adrenalin rear bumper includes another integrated winch mount and a hydraulic spare-tire lift. Stazworks 20-inch two-piece wheels are paired with 335/80R20 expedition tires measuring approximately 41 inches tall. A front receiver hitch, Rigid lighting, AMP XL automatic power steps and extensive aluminum exterior storage further expand the truck’s utility.
  • Serious Off-Grid Capacity: Klause carries a 24V electrical system built around dual Mastervolt 24-6000 batteries providing 460Ah of total capacity. The system includes a Mastervolt 3,500W inverter/charger, dual MPPT solar controllers, multiple Mastervolt DC-to-DC chargers and 1,600 watts of roof-mounted solar. CZone digital switching and monitoring ties the major systems together through an NMEA 2000 network, providing centralized control of lighting, tank monitoring and other onboard functions. Fresh-water capacity is an equally substantial 100 gallons, accompanied by a 45-gallon grey-water tank. Tank heaters, a variable-speed water pump, exterior shower connection and Aqua-Hot diesel-powered heat and hot water support four-season travel.
  • A True Living Space: Rather than adapting a conventional slide-in camper, Adrenalin constructed a 14-foot all-aluminum living module with a seven-foot cabover and seven-foot interior height. Extruded 6061 aluminum structural tubing, aluminum/poly-core exterior panels and spray-foam insulation create a lightweight but substantial shell, with R-14 insulation in the walls and R-20 insulation in the floor and ceiling. Inside, aluminum cabinetry and drawers, upholstered walls and ceiling panels, commercial-grade vinyl flooring and Outbound dual-pane windows give the camper a finished residential feel while retaining materials suited to expedition travel. Sleeping accommodations include a king-size cabover bed with a custom triple-density foam mattress, while the powered dinette converts into an additional queen-size bed. The galley includes an induction cooktop, refrigerator/freezer, microwave/convection oven, stainless steel sink and bamboo or quartz countertop.
Klause was engineered as an integrated expedition vehicle rather than a collection of accessories added to a heavy-duty pickup. The chassis, active suspension, electrical system, water storage, heating, cooling and living module are all designed around the same mission: remaining comfortable and self-contained while traveling far from conventional infrastructure.

The combination of a 74-gallon diesel supply, 100 gallons of fresh water, 1,600 watts of solar, 460Ah 24V battery bank and diesel-fired heat and hot water gives the truck substantial independence once pavement and hookups disappear. At the same time, its Ram 5500 Limited cab, active suspension and complete interior make the miles between destinations considerably more civilized.
