This 1996 Toyota Land Cruiser FZJ80 was previously owned for more than 10 years by the proprietor of a custom tuning and fabrication shop, where it was built, maintained, and refined as his personal rig. CARFAX documents Florida ownership from new through its most recent registration history, with no accidents or damage reported. Accompanying records detail an extensive list of upgrades and maintenance dating back to his purchase in 2015. This thoughtfully equipped 80 Series combines Toyota’s proven factory 4.5-liter 1FZ-FE inline-six and four-speed automatic transmission with well thought out upgrades for everyday driving and off-road travel.
The exterior wears a matte metallic brown 3M wrap over its original Medium Red Pearl finish. The previous owner disclosed that the original paint had clear coat deterioration before the wrap was installed. So returning it to its original finish would likely involve a respray although no known rust is in the body and the undercarriage shows extremely well. Dobinsons front protection, side steps with side rails, and a rear bumper with a swing-out spare tire carrier and jerry can (not installed but included) give Trojan like protection when going deep in the bush. Additional equipment includes a Smittybilt X20 12,000 lb synthetic rope winch with smooth fairlead, and Kut Snake fender flares. A PRINSU roof rack and Cali light bar have just been installed, and the vehicle has only been driven briefly since their installation. These additions are not included in the accompanying build and maintenance receipts.
A well regarded Dobinsons 3-inch suspension system makes room for the Cooper Discoverer S/T MAXX LT315/75R16 tires mounted on distinctive 16-inch Dean Cross Country wheels. A popular modern retro twist on the classic vintage Fj40 wheels! The PO didn’t just slap on some cheap lift kit there were other upgrades to match including a Dobinsons adjustable panhard rod, Delta panhard bar relocation bracket, caster correction bushings, Dobinsons steering damper, sway bar extensions, and a brake proportioning valve extension. A 37-gallon Long Range Automotive fuel tank was recently installed so you can pass more than 2 gas stations on the way to Rubicon. The rear axle retains a two-pinion open differential with 4.10:1 gearing with no factory e-locker or aftermarket locker.
The build extends well beyond the visible accessories. Records and the previous owner’s maintenance summary document front steering knuckle service, rear wheel bearings, a West Coast Off Road steering box, tie rod ends, brake calipers, pads, rotors, and brake hoses. Driveline work includes OEM front and rear driveshaft replacements and additional driveshaft service. Cooling system work includes a radiator, water pump, silicone coolant hoses, fan clutch, and associated heater hoses. An OEM air-conditioning compressor, replacement window runs and seals, exterior trim, and LX450 bronze front door glass are also among the documented items. The previous owner additionally reported an ABS delete upgrade.
Inside, the tan leather seating was redone during the previous owner’s ownership. The factory power-adjustable front seats, air conditioning, sunroof, power windows, power locks, and power mirrors all function as they should. The original fold up third-row seats are in the cargo area (currently folded up) as the rear Jerry can bumper mount with spare parts are in the cargo area. A Pioneer NEX touchscreen (model DMH-W3000NEX) head unit adds Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a rearview camera connected to upgraded speakers with sound-deadened doors..
